After three months of daily preparation Ciara Smith’s steer was named the 2015 Monroe County Junior Fair Reserve Champion.
“It’s very time consuming and it takes a lot of dedication, but it’s well worth it in the long run,” said Ciara.
Participating in the fair has taught Ciara many life lessons and has helped prepare her for the future.
Ciara’s father, Randy, says his is very thankful for all the businesses that support the Monroe County fair and the 4H program.
“My son and daughter have been selling their animals at the livestock sale since they were nine years old and the money they’ve made is what is supporting their education.”
Royalty buyer Blaine Grace says Gateway Royalty loves to come support the 4H kids and give back to the community.
“We love to support the kids here in the 4H program, this is one of our favorite times of the year. They work so hard on their animals and they learn great disciplines as well.”
Ciara says the money she earned from Gateway Royalty will go towards her college expenses at Muskingum University where she is studying Pre-Med.
