Yes. Selling your mineral rights doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing decision.
Some Ohio mineral owners sell a portion of their mineral interest and keep the rest. For example, you might sell half to receive money now while retaining half of any future royalty income tied to that interest. If new wells are drilled later, you would continue to participate through the portion you kept.
That can be appealing if you have a use for the money today but don’t want to give up all the potential upside. It also means keeping some of the uncertainty: future drilling, production, and royalty payments aren’t guaranteed.
Before deciding, make sure you know what portion you actually own and what the proposed sale would include. Mineral interests can be divided among family members, and the acreage shown on a property record may not represent your full ownership interest. A title search helps establish what you can sell.
Gateway Royalty has worked with Ohio landowners who chose to sell only a portion of their minerals or royalties (like Jim & Megan, or Nancy.)
If you’re considering that option, talk with our team. We can look at your interest, explain what a partial sale might involve, and help you compare it with selling everything or keeping what you own.
