On July 2013, several Gateway representatives manned a booth at the Carroll County Fair, where the company purchased more than $30,000 worth of livestock at the youth livestock auction.
Gateway Royalty Buyer Blaine Grace said they not only donated $250 to every participant with a steer, but they also had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with attending landowners.
“It was great to be able to get out of the office and interact with community members face-to-face,” said Grace. “We were able to answer a lot of questions and received hundreds of thank-you cards from grateful participants after the fair ended.”
Gateway sponsored a concert for the fair in 2012. This year, more emphasis was placed on contributing to the 4-H livestock auction itself.
“It really is one of the biggest functions in Carroll County all year,” said Grace. “We wanted to help the kids out as much as we could.”
Following the fair, Gateway donated more than 60 percent of the purchased meat to a local Carroll County senior facility.
